Serves 2 or 1 Large Serving (nut-free)
ingredients
-
150 g (5 oz/1 cup) fresh ripe blackberries (or frozen, thawed)
-
250 g (9 oz/1 cup) plain unsweetened yoghurt (for a vegan alternative use coconut yoghurt or organic GMO-free soya yoghurt)
-
1–2 tablespoons quality raw honey
-
½ teaspoon ground vanilla or vanilla extract
-
45 g (1½ oz/½ cup) rolled oats (choose certified gluten-free if allergic)
-
2 tablespoons black chia seeds
To Serve
-
Slices of a firm but ripe banana
method
- Step 1 :Put the blackberries, yoghurt, honey and vanilla in a blender and blend on a high speed until completely smooth.
- Step 2 :Taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more honey if necessary.
Pour into a bowl and stir in the oats and chia seeds. Arrange the banana slices around the inside of two sealable medium-sized glass jars or a large one (as featured in the photo).
- Step 3 :Pour the smoothie on top and serve chilled (to give the oats and chia seeds a chance to soak) with spoons. Alternatively, store in the fridge overnight to grab on your way out the next morning. It can keep for a couple of days in the fridge, if unopened.
