A Day On A Plate: Sophie Jaffe, From The Philosophie

Meet Sophie!

I absolutely love that we've entered a time when healthy eating means celebrating colors, big flavor, and beautiful fruits, veggies, grains, and spices from the earth.

I first started down my wellness path after I began working at an organic raw juice bar and changing my own eating habits to alleviate some of the discomforts I felt after having certain types of food. I was so encouraged by how great my body felt after making these changes that I felt inspired to help change the eating habits of others. So I went back to the books and became a certified raw vegan chef, and my passions for healthy eating ultimately lead me to create my wellness company, Philosophie!

Philosophie really began with me simply wishing that I could have an amazing blend of superfoods and proteins together in one, convenient jar. I didn’t want to run out of camu camu or another individual ingredient and then feel like my smoothie wasn’t complete, so I went all over LA searching for high quality, fair-trade, organic superfoods and then began packing them into mason jars and little bags. I started giving the blends to friends and family and making everyone workout and nutrition guides. One day, I was in the sea in Israel with my husband, Adi, and he turned to me and said, “You should really grow what you’re doing and share it with more people, make it a company.” And since that day, Philosophie has blossomed into something much bigger than I had ever imagined. Our products have helped everyone from George Clooney to my own dad and are continuing to help so many more people discover wellness and feel as vibrant and alive as they can.

For me, healthy eating means enjoying beautiful, wholesome foods that you actually look forward to + completely S A V OR. For those of you may be curious or would like a bit of guidance in your healthy eating habits, here are the eats + drinks that keep me energized throughout the day!

Water Wake Up

The moment I wake up, I sip on a glass of warm water with a slice of fresh lemon. After a long night of sleep, your body needs to hydrate and flush out the digestive system, which the burst of citrus helps to stimulate.

Breakfast

Smoothies are my daily oasis of protein, fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and YUMMINESS! I love tossing fruits, leafy greens, coconut waters and nut milks, and Philosophie superfoods into a blender and having a filling, energizing smoothie ready in 5 minutes (this Summer Peach Smoothie is currently one of my go-tos).

Lunch

All it takes is a Superfood Salad to replenish my body after a hard sweat sesh! I toss up my salads with dark leafy greens, gut-friendly fermented foods, omega-packed nuts and seeds, sprouted brown rice or quinoa, a superfood dressing, and some berries or citrus slices for a touch of sweetness.

Snack

To beat the salt munchies, I’ll munch on a handful of almonds and pop up a bowl of popcorn on the stove with coconut oil and then mix up my very own Superfood Popcorn!

Dinner

I love serving up a generous portion of zucchini noodles with a homemade garlic-basil pesto sauce

Dessert

I LOVE sweets, so I’ll always top off my dinner with a vegan + dairy-free ice cream. I’ve happily accepted it as my jam and my indulgence + always enjoy it sans guilt!
